So I’m finally reading this book that I’ve heard about for over a year called The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp. It has made me feel the need to be creative in some way shape or form every day. On the multiple snow days we had off of school, in order to keep the cabin fever at bay, my roommates and I gathered all the leftover paint from our bedrooms and bathrooms and, following my painting major roommate’s guidance, tried to make our own Jackson Pollock inspired work of art.
“It’s the same for any creative individual, whether it’s a painter finding his way each morning to the easel, or a medical researcher returning daily to the laboratory. The routine is as much a part of the creative process as the lightening bolt of inspiration, maybe more. And this routine is available to everyone.” –Twyla Tharp
“It matters, art does, so deeply. It’s one of the noblest things, because it can make us better, and one of the scariest things, because it comes from such a deep place inside of us.” –Shauna Niequist
