mexico: days three & four (the ceremony)

Yesterday morning, we loaded up the vans at 5am…yeah, that’s right…I said 5am…and started our two and a half hour drive to Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo. We were welcomed with open arms and a ceremony.

But seriously. They painted us a sign and introduced us in front of a bunch of the city officials. Sooo not normal, and soooo not expected. Teresa, the leader on our trip, said that it was the first time she has ever seen a city welcome a medical team in such a special way, and it really helped all of us to know that there were so many groups working together to make these clinics happen.

And I promise, once I sleep a bit I’ll post about the medical side of things. And the kids…
